This is not a fairytale structure I promise you! It is a wonderful hotel my wife and I had the pleasure of staying in a few weeks ago in Northern Ireland. It’s called the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle, County Down.
We were taking a leisurely stroll around the grounds, set at the foot of the Mountains of Mourne, when the weather changed quite suddenly. Storm clouds came rolling in and created, as it so often does, a dramatic light.
Strangely the storm passed us by, but not before I could capture the angry looking sky over the hotel.
Great image Marc. Great leading line and that sky is well….dramatic! And that light – a nice break in the clouds!
What great drama. A terrific stormy sky to set off this extraordinary building. And the the shingle path is the perfect lead in. What a find.
Love this scene, man. Nice leading path to the hotel, which is awesome looking. That dramatic sky fits right in with everything else here. Nice work.
This is incredible Marc, I love the way that the path leads right through the shot. Awesome processing as well!
This is absolutely brilliant, Marc! Gorgeous piece.
That’s some wild lighting Marc!
WOW! I totally want to stay here for nothing more than the crazy scenery!
Incredible shot Marc. i love the perspective. The road leads the eye straight to that beautiful hotel and those incredible clouds.
An all round exceptional image. Great lead-in line, in the perfect S-curve, from the path; fascinating subject with all those architectural features nicely sunlit; and the ominous sky to round it all off.
What a spectacular shot man!
The building is set off wonderfully against that dramatic sky.
Beautiful shot Marc. I love that light. I usually see this light while driving down the road without my camera! I’m glad that you had yours.
Such a perfect light on this scene! This is a beautiful composition. Love it!
